Cover Story: Due to their ability to mimic the characteristics of the extracellular matrix, electrospun fibers show an attractive option to produce tissue scaffolds. They can be fabricated from natural or synthetic polymers, and their combination allows for tailoring a wide range of functionalities in the development of new devices by assuring biocompatibility, bio-recognition, and cell adhesion of the fibers. In this work, the fabrication of PVA-based multicomponent membranes was proposed, investigating their processability, bioactivity, and electroconductivity as functions of the integration of selected additional phases. The reported results represent a promising study for the development of electroactive fibrous composites suitable to support the regeneration mechanisms of electrically activated tissues such as neurons or muscles.
