Cover Story: When a metal pipe is abraded in a corrosive environment such as sea water, many things can happen. One of these things observed was pitting with twisted shape. Here, an artistic expression of a topographical image was obtained using an interferometer. It shows that the surface of duplex stainless steel is seen with abrading marks. The green color represents pitting going deep into the surface. View this paper.
