Cover Story: We found that the tension between CMB (Planck 2015) and cosmic shear data (CFHTLenS and KiDS-450), arising in the σ8 - Ωm plane and described by the S8 parameter in the ΛCDM scenario, can be solved by allowing the Alens parameter to vary. We found that the higher incorrect amount of lensing in the Planck 2015 power spectra could be responsible for this tension. The CMB lensing amplitude Alens, a phenomenological parameter expected equal to 1, is in fact more than 2 sigma higher in the Planck 2015 data, and it is not supported by the trispectrum analysis that measures the true amount of lensing. By varying Alens, the S8 values of CMB and cosmic shear data agree within one sigma. Moreover, we showed that massive neutrinos, which are usually varied to change the σ8 constraints, do not relieve the S8 tension. View this paper.
