Lifestyle, Health and Mental Well-Being Across the Lifespan
Topic Information
Dear Colleagues,
We would like to invite submissions of original articles and reviews for this Topic, which aims to explore the intricate interplay among lifestyle factors, physical and cognitive health, and mental well-being across all stages of life, from childhood to old age.
The global burden of non-communicable diseases and mental health challenges necessitates a shift toward integrated, preventive and personalized lifestyle strategies. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- The reciprocal influence of the gut–brain axis and specific dietary patterns or nutrients on mood disorders (anxiety and depression).
- The role of physical activity and/or structured exercise in improving cognitive function and reducing neurodegenerative risk.
- The impact of sleep patterns and stress management in combination with diet and exercise on markers of systemic inflammation and cellular aging.
- The association between health and nutrition literacy and key outcomes, including dietary habits, nutritional status, physical activity, frailty, sarcopenia, and the efficacy of targeted nutritional strategies in promoting healthy aging.
- The role of personalized, technology-driven lifestyle interventions in improving health, resilience and quality of life in diverse populations (e.g., healthy and unhealthy individuals, children, adolescents, women, working professionals, older adults, and vulnerable populations).
- The impact of sustainable food systems on health and well-being.
