Antibiotic-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa presents a critical global health challenge, particularly in hospital-acquired infections. Bacteriophages offer a promising therapeutic avenue due to their ability to target and lyse resistant strains. This study characterizes Pseudomonas phage Banzai, a newly isolated Pbunavirus (family Lindbergviridae) with lytic activity against multiple P. aeruginosa isolates, including multidrug-resistant strains. Genomic analysis revealed a 66,189 bp genome, lacking antibiotic resistance or virulence factors, and suggested a headful packaging mechanism and the presence of a bidirectional component in the replication. In vivo experiments using Galleria mellonella showed therapeutic potential, significantly improving larval survival (87% at 24 h). Host range analysis revealed activity against 13 of 30 P. aeruginosa isolates, including members of O1, O3, O5 and O6 in silico predicted serogroups. Phylogenomic analyses place phage Banzai within the genus Pbunavirus, sharing 94.8% intergenomic similarity with its closest relatives, supporting its classification as a novel species. These findings highlight phage Banzai as a potential candidate for phage therapy, demonstrating genomic stability, a strictly lytic lifestyle, and in vivo efficacy. Full article

Analyzing Regional Disparities in China’s Green Manufacturing Transition

China has identified the high-quality development of its green manufacturing transition as the top priority for upgrading their industrial structure system which will lead to the sustainable development of an innovation ecosystem. To assess their progress in this area, this study selects the panel data of 31 provinces in China from 2011 to 2021 and constructs an evaluation index system for the green transformation of the manufacturing industry from four dimensions: environment, resources, economy, and industrial structure. This not only comprehensively and systematically reflects the dynamic changes in the green transformation of the manufacturing industry but also addresses the limitations of currently used indices. The entropy value method is used to calculate the comprehensive score of the green transformation of the manufacturing industry, while the key factors influencing the convergence of the green transformation of the manufacturing industry are further explored. The results show that first, the overall level of the green transformation of the manufacturing industry has significantly improved as evidenced by an approximate 32% increase. Second, regional differences are significant with the eastern region experiencing significantly higher levels of transformation compared to the central and western regions, along with a decreasing trend from the east to the central and western regions. From a policy perspective, the findings suggest that tailored production methods for each region should be adopted with a greater emphasis on knowledge exchanges to promote green transition in less developed regions. In addition, further regulations are required which, in part, focus on increasing the degree of openness to the outside world to promote the level of green manufacturing transition. Full article

Constipation is a prevalent gastrointestinal disorder that significantly impairs quality of life. While pharmacological agents such as loperamide are widely used to induce constipation in experimental models, there is increasing interest in natural alternatives for alleviating intestinal dysfunction. In this study, we investigated the laxative effects of soybean powder fermented by Bacillus subtilis DKU_09 in a loperamide-induced rat model of constipation. The probiotic strain was isolated from cheonggukjang, a traditional Korean fermented soybean paste, and its identity was confirmed through 16S rRNA sequencing. Fermented soybean powder was characterized morphologically via scanning electron microscopy and chemically via HPLC to assess its isoflavone content. Rats were administered loperamide (5 mg/kg) for four days to induce constipation and were then treated with fermented soybean powder at doses of 100, 200, or 300 mg/kg. No pharmacological laxatives (e.g., PEG) were used as a positive control; instead, values from the treatment groups were compared with those from the loperamide-only constipation group. Key outcomes of fecal output, water content, colonic fecal retention, and gastrointestinal transit ratio were measured. The fermented product significantly improved stool frequency and moisture content, reduced colonic fecal retention, and restored gastrointestinal transit in a dose-dependent manner. Notably, the 300 mg/kg group demonstrated nearly complete recovery of fecal parameters without affecting body weight. Statistical analysis was performed using one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s post hoc test. These findings suggest that Bacillus subtilis-fermented soybean powder exerts synergistic laxative effects through the combined action of probiotic viability and fermentation-enhanced bioactive compounds such as aglycone isoflavones. This study supports the potential use of fermented soybean-based nutraceuticals as a natural and safe intervention for constipation and gastrointestinal dysregulation. Full article

Machining chromium–nickel alloy steel is challenging due to its material properties, such as high strength and toughness. These properties often lead to tool damage and degradation of tool life, which overall impacts the production time, cost, and quality of the product. Therefore, it is essential to investigate early signs of tool damage to determine the effective machining conditions for chromium–nickel alloy steel, thereby increasing tool life and improving product quality. In this study, the early signs of tool wear were observed in a physical vapor deposition (PVD) carbide-coated tool (Seco Tools, Björnbacksvägen, Sweden) during the machining of X5CrNi18-10 steel under both dry and wet conditions. A finish turning operation was performed on the outer diameter (OD) of the workpiece with a 0.4 mm nose radius tool. At the early stage, the tool was examined from the functional side (f–side) and the passive side (p–side). The results indicate that dry machining leads to increased coating removal, more heat generation, and visible damage, such as pits and surface scratches. By comparison, wet machining helps reduce heat and wear, thereby improving tool life and machining quality. These findings suggest that a coolant must be used when machining chromium–nickel alloy steel with a PVD carbide-coated tool. Full article

Employee turnover remains a critical challenge for organizations, prompting an examination of how leadership approaches influence employees’ intentions to leave. This study investigates the impact of transformational leadership on turnover intention, focusing on emotional exhaustion and creativity as potential mediators. The study employs a quantitative design grounded in leadership and organizational psychology theory and surveys 182 professionals working in the information technology sector across Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro. Structural equation modeling reveals that transformational leadership reduces turnover intention by alleviating emotional exhaustion, highlighting the importance of psychological well-being in employee retention. While transformational leadership enhances employee creativity, creativity did not significantly mediate turnover intention in this context. These findings suggest that strategies that foster engagement and reduce burnout in knowledge-intensive industries can strengthen organizational commitment and improve retention. This study contributes to the understanding of behavioral mechanisms linking leadership to employee outcomes and offers actionable insights for modern organizations aiming to address turnover through supportive, empowering leadership practices. Additional mediators and contextual variables should be explored in further research. Full article

Proteomic profiling using ultrafast chromatography–mass spectrometry provides valuable insights into plant responses to abiotic factors by linking molecular changes with physiological outcomes. Nanopriming, a novel approach involving the treatment of seeds with nanoparticles, has demonstrated potential for enhancing plant metabolism and productivity. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying nanoparticle-induced effects remain poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the impact of gold nanoparticle (Au-NP) seed priming on the proteome of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) seedlings. Differentially regulated proteins (DRPs) were identified, revealing a pronounced reorganization of the photosynthetic apparatus (PSA). Both the light-dependent reactions and the Calvin cycle were affected, with significant upregulation of chloroplast-associated protein complexes, including PsbC (CP43), chlorophyll a/b-binding proteins, Photosystem I subunits (PsaA and PsaB), and the γ-subunit of ATP synthase. The large subunit of ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (RuBisCo) exhibited over a threefold increase in expression in Au-NP-treated seedlings. The proteomic changes in the large subunit RuBisCo L were corroborated by transcriptomic data. Importantly, the proteomic changes were supported by physiological and biochemical analyses, ultrastructural modifications in chloroplasts, and increased photosynthetic activity. Our findings suggest that Au-NP nanopriming triggers coordinated molecular responses, enhancing the functional activity of the PSA. Identified DRPs may serve as potential biomarkers for further elucidation of nanopriming mechanisms and for the development of precision strategies to improve crop productivity. Full article

Singleton pregnancies complicated by a short cervical length (≤25 mm) are at significantly increased risk for spontaneous preterm birth. Several treatment strategies aimed at reducing this risk and improving perinatal outcomes have been evaluated, including vaginal progesterone, cervical cerclage, and cervical pessary. This review summarizes the latest evidence regarding the efficacy of these interventions. Vaginal progesterone and/or cervical cerclage have been identified as proven evidence-based practices for preterm birth prevention and improve neonatal outcomes. Vaginal progesterone reduces the risk of preterm birth < 35 weeks by 27% (relative risk 0.73, 95% confidence interval 0.58–0.90). Cervical cerclage has been shown to reduce the risk of preterm birth < 35 weeks by 30% (relative risk 0.70, 95% confidence interval 0.55–0.89) in patients with a short cervical length and prior preterm birth. In contrast, recent data suggest that cervical pessary should no longer be considered a management option for these patients. A continued focus on individualized, evidence-based approaches remains essential to optimizing outcomes in this high-risk population. Full article

Reinforcing PLA composites with natural fibres is a prominent strategy for improving PLA’s properties while benefiting from its intrinsic biodegradation. However, these composites may be susceptible to an inefficient stress-transferring process due to the weak intermolecular interactions between PLA and natural fibres. A well-known practice is to incorporate coupling agents to improve polymer–fibre adhesion, such as carboxylic acids (CAs) and grafted copolymers. CAs are a more affordable and biodegradable option for improving PLA/natural fibre interface strength, resulting in a material with superior mechanical and thermal properties. In this context, this research discusses the potential use of mono (C6 and C8) and di (CC6 and CC8) carboxylic acids as coupling agents in PLA/pecan nutshells (PN) composites. PLA/PN composites with four different CAs were processed in a twin-screw extruder and subsequently injection moulded. The results indicated an increase in the flexural strength of the PLA due to the presence of PN in the neat composite. The use of CAs increased the storage modulus of PLA/PN composites, while C6 and CC8 reduced the PLA composite tan δ peak height. The PLA’s Tg in PLA/PN composite shifted to lower temperatures after the incorporation of CAs while increasing the PLA crystallinity degree. These results strongly suggested that besides acting as efficient coupling agents, these acids also exerted roles as nucleating agents and plasticisers. Full article

Effectiveness of Psychoeducation via Telenursing on Reducing Caregiver Burden Among Caregivers for Patients with Schizophrenia in Saudi Arabia: A Quasi-Experimental Study

Background/Objectives: Family caregivers of individuals with schizophrenia often face considerable psychological and physical strain due to the complexity of caregiving. Although psychoeducation has demonstrated benefits in alleviating this burden, its provision via telenursing remains underexplored in Saudi Arabia. This study evaluated the effect of a psychoeducational program delivered via telenursing on reducing caregiver burden. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was used with 60 caregivers from a tertiary mental health hospital in northern Saudi Arabia, who were divided equally into intervention and control groups. The intervention group participated in a structured four-week psychoeducational program via Zoom, while the control group received routine care. Caregiver burden was assessed using the Family Burden Interview Schedule (FBIS), a validated tool designed to measure the objective and subjective burden experienced by family members caring for individuals with mental illness. The FBIS was administered before and three months after the intervention. The statistical analysis included independent and paired t-tests and ANOVA. Results: The pre-intervention scores showed no significant differences, confirming baseline equivalence. The post-intervention scores showed a significant reduction in burden among the intervention group (p < 0.001), while no meaningful change occurred in the control group. Additionally, a lower burden was associated with higher education, sufficient income (i.e., the caregiver’s perception of being able to meet essential household expenses without financial strain), strong family support, and absence of caregiver illness. Conclusions: These findings suggest that psychoeducation through telenursing is an effective strategy for reducing caregiver burden and improving support accessibility, particularly for those in remote areas. Multidimensional clustering of large-scale multi-view data is an important topic because it makes possible to combine a variety of manifestations of a complex information set. Nevertheless, comparing and selecting the most suitable deep clustering method is not an easy task, especially when several opposing criteria are applied. Multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques provide systematic approaches to making such judgments, although they are often limited in their ability to handle uncertainty, imprecise judgments, and interdependencies in practice. To solve these problems, this paper suggests a circular Fermatean fuzzy technique order preference by similarity to ideal solution (CFF-TOPSIS) method, which combines improved fuzzy modeling with MCDM to make the decision-making process accurate and sound. By exploiting the intrinsic symmetry of TOPSIS, where distances to positive and negative ideal solutions are treated symmetrically, the proposed model integrates five evaluation criteria for assessing clustering adequacy, including clustering accuracy, scalability, computational complexity, robustness, and interpretability, to critically evaluate five alternative clustering methods based on the input of three decision-makers. This measurement is performed efficiently by the CFF-TOPSIS method based on the uncertainty and subjective judgment contained within circular Fermatean fuzzy sets (CFFSs). The model is reliable and superior to existing models, as confirmed by sensitivity and comparative analyses. The suggested approach provides a systematic and flexible method for making decisions in complex big-data settings, while maintaining symmetry in the evaluation of alternatives and criteria. Background: Electrocardiograms (EKGs) are essential tools in emergency medicine, often used to evaluate chest pain, dyspnea, and other symptoms suggestive of cardiac dysfunction. Yet, EKGs are not universally administered to all emergency department (ED) patients. Understanding and predicting which patients receive an EKG may offer insights into clinical decision making, resource allocation, and potential disparities in care. This study examines whether integrating structured clinical data with free-text patient narratives can improve prediction of EKG utilization in the ED. Methods: We conducted a retrospective observational study to predict electrocardiogram (EKG) utilization using data from 13,115 adult emergency department (ED) visits in the nationally representative 2021 National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey–Emergency Department (NHAMCS-ED), leveraging both structured features—demographics, vital signs, comorbidities, arrival mode, and triage acuity, with the most influential selected via Lasso regression—and unstructured patient narratives transformed into numerical embeddings using Clinical-BERT. Four supervised learning models—Logistic Regression (LR), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Random Forest (RF) and Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGB)—were trained on three inputs (structured data only, text embeddings only, and a late-fusion combined model); hyperparameters were optimized by grid search with 5-fold cross-validation; performance was evaluated via AUROC, accuracy, sensitivity, specificity and precision; and interpretability was assessed using SHAP values and Permutation Feature Importance. Results: EKGs were administered in 30.6% of adult ED visits. Patients who received EKGs were more likely to be older, White, Medicare-insured, and to present with abnormal vital signs or higher triage severity. Across all models, the combined data approach yielded superior predictive performance. The SVM and LR achieved the highest area under the ROC curve (AUC = 0.860 and 0.861) when using both structured and unstructured data, compared to 0.772 with structured data alone and 0.823 and 0.822 with unstructured data alone. Similar improvements were observed in accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. Conclusions: Integrating structured clinical data with patient narratives significantly enhances the ability to predict EKG utilization in the emergency department. These findings support a personalized medicine framework by demonstrating how multimodal data integration can enable individualized, real-time decision support in the ED. Full article

This comprehensive review examines the role of septoplasty in the pediatric population, emphasizing its therapeutic significance in relieving nasal obstruction and facilitating normal craniofacial growth. Despite the evident advantages of septoplasty, its application in young patients remains a subject of ongoing debate. This issue is primarily characterized by concerns regarding the still-developing immaturity of nasal cartilage, potential intraoperative and postoperative risks, and the current absence of robust data on long-term outcomes following septoplasty. Common complications such as bleeding, septal perforation, saddle nose deformity, and persistent nasal obstruction are reported in the literature; however, many studies lack long-term follow-up data on the incidence of these adverse events and revision rates, which may be higher compared to adult populations, often leading to the need for secondary surgical interventions. Strict inclusion criteria and comprehensive patient selection are paramount to maximize therapeutic success while minimizing complications. Current evidence suggests that appropriately indicated septoplasty can improve airway patency, support optimal facial development, and reduce the risk of secondary sinonasal pathology. There is a significant necessity for additional prospective, large-scale studies to establish standardized therapeutic guidelines and management strategies for this specific population, thereby ensuring effective and evidence-based pediatric otolaryngologic care. Background: Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) is increasingly used for managing cuff tear arthropathy, osteoarthritis, complex fractures, and revision procedures. As the demand for surgical precision and reproducibility grows, immersive technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and metaverse-based platforms are being explored for surgical training, intraoperative guidance, and rehabilitation. While early data suggest potential benefits, a focused synthesis specific to RTSA is lacking. Methods: This systematic review was conducted in accordance with PRISMA 2020 guidelines. A comprehensive search of PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane Library databases was performed through 30 May 2025. Eligible studies included those evaluating immersive technologies in the context of RTSA for skill acquisition or intraoperative guidance. Only peer-reviewed articles published in English were included. Data were synthesized narratively due to heterogeneity in study design and outcome metrics. Results: Out of 628 records screened, 21 studies met the inclusion criteria. Five studies evaluated immersive VR for surgical training: four randomized controlled trials and one retrospective case series. VR training improved procedural efficiency and showed non-inferiority to cadaveric training. Sixteen studies investigated intraoperative navigation or AR guidance. Clinical and cadaveric studies consistently reported improved accuracy in glenoid baseplate positioning with reduced angular and linear deviations in postoperative controls as compared to preoperative planning. Conclusions: Immersive technologies show promise in enhancing training, intraoperative accuracy, and procedural consistency in RTSA. VR and AR platforms may support standardized surgical education and precision-based practice, but their broad clinical impact remains limited by small sample sizes, heterogeneous methodologies, and limited long-term outcomes. Further multicenter trials with standardized endpoints and cost-effectiveness analyses are warranted. Postoperative rehabilitation using immersive technologies in RTSA remains underexplored and presents an opportunity for future research. Full article

Caffeine is a widely consumed psychoactive compound known to influence drug metabolism and efficacy through interactions with key enzymes such as cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). This study investigates the molecular impact of caffeine on the binding behavior of imatinib, a first-line BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase inhibitor, using molecular docking simulations. Structural optimization and lipophilicity analyses were conducted using HyperChem, while docking was performed with HEX software (Version 8.0.0) against the CYP3A4 receptor (PDB ID: 1W0E). Two administration scenarios were evaluated: concurrent caffeine–imatinib complex formation and sequential administration with caffeine pre-bound to CYP3A4. The caffeine–imatinib complex exhibited a predicted increase in lipophilicity (logP = 3.09) compared to imatinib alone (logP = −1.29), which may indicate the potential for enhanced membrane permeability and tissue distribution. Docking simulations revealed stronger binding affinity of the complex to CYP3A4 (−350.53 kcal/mol) compared to individual compounds, and improved imatinib binding when CYP3A4 was pre-complexed with caffeine (−294.14 kcal/mol vs. −288.19 kcal/mol). Frontier molecular orbital analysis indicated increased reactivity of the complex (ΔE = 7.74 eV), supporting the hypothesis of altered pharmacodynamic behavior. These findings suggest that caffeine may modulate imatinib’s metabolic profile and therapeutic efficacy by enhancing receptor binding and altering drug distribution. The study underscores the importance of evaluating dietary components during drug development and therapeutic planning, particularly for agents metabolized by CYP3A4. Full article

Ischemic stroke is a primary cause of cerebrovascular diseases and continues to be one of the leading causes of death and disability among patients worldwide. Pathological processes caused by vascular damage due to stroke occur in a time-dependent manner and are classified into three categories: acute, subacute, and chronic. Current treatments for ischemic stroke are limited to effectiveness in the early stages. In this study, we investigated the therapeutic effect of an oriental medicine, Gosha-jinki-gan (TJ107), on improving chronic ischemic stroke using the mouse model with middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). The changes in the intracerebral inflammatory response (macrophages (F4/80), TLR24, IL-23, IL-17, TNF-α, and IL-1β) were examined using real-time RT-PCR. The MCAO mice showed the increased expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and of F4/80, TLR2, TLR4, IL-1β, TNF-α, and IL-17 in the brain tissue from the MCAO region. This suggests that they contribute to the expansion of the ischemic stroke infarct area and to the worsening of the neurological symptoms of the MCAO mice in the chronic phase. On the other hand, the administration of TJ107 was proven to reduce the infarct area, with decreased GFAP expression, suppressed macrophage infiltration in the brain, and reduced TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-17 production compared with the MCAO mice. This study first demonstrated Gosha-jinki-gan’s therapeutic effects on the chronic ischemic stroke. Full article
