Soil phosphorus (P) availability is an important determinant of productivity in Pinus massoniana (Masson pine) forests. The mechanistic bases governing the physiological and growth responses of Masson pine to varying soil P conditions remain insufficiently characterized. This study aims to decipher the adaptive strategies of Masson pine to different soil P levels, focusing on root morphological–architectural plasticity and the allocation dynamics of nutrient elements and photosynthetic assimilates. One-year-old potted Masson pine seedlings were exposed to four P addition treatments for one year: P0 (0 mg kg−1), P1 (25 mg kg−1), P2 (50 mg·kg−1), and P3 (100 mg kg−1). In July and December, measurements were conducted on seedling organ biomass, root morphological indices [root length (RL), root surface area (RSA), root diameter (RD), specific root length (SRL), and root length ratio (RLR) for each diameter grade], root architectural indices [number of root tips (RTs), fractal dimension (FD), root branching angle (RBA), and root topological index (TI)], as well as the content of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), carbon (C), and non-structural carbohydrates (NSCs) in roots, stems, and leaves. Compared with the P0 treatment, P2 and P3 significantly increased root biomass, root–shoot ratio, RL, RSA, RTs, RLR of finer roots (diameter ≤ 0.4 mm), nutrient accumulation ratio in roots, and starch (ST) content in roots, stems and leaves. Meanwhile, they decreased soluble sugar (SS) content, SS/ST ratio, C and N content, and N/P and C/P ratios in stems and leaves, as well as nutrient accumulation ratio in leaves. The P3 treatment significantly reduced RBA and increased FD and SRL. Our results indicated that Masson pine adapts to low P by developing shallower roots with a reduced branching intensity and promoting the conversion of ST to SS. P’s addition effectively alleviates growth limitations imposed by low P, stimulating root growth, branching, and gravitropism. Although a sole P addition promotes short-term growth and P uptake, it triggers a substantial consumption of N, C, and SS, leading to significant decreases in N/P and C/P ratios and exacerbating N’s limitation, which is detrimental to long-term growth. Under high-P conditions, Masson pine strategically prioritizes allocating limited N and SS to roots, facilitating the formation of thinner roots with low C costs. Full article

This study applies Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and mathematical modeling to examine uterine and umbilical arterial blood flow during pregnancy, providing a more detailed understanding of hemodynamic changes across gestation. Statistical analysis of Doppler ultrasound data from a large cohort of more than 200 pregnant women (in the second and third trimesters) reveals significant increases in the umbilical arterial peak systolic velocity (PSV) between the 22nd and 30th weeks, while uterine artery velocities remain relatively stable, suggesting adaptations in vascular resistance during pregnancy. By combining the Navier–Stokes equations with Doppler ultrasound-derived inlet velocity profiles, we quantify several key fluid dynamics parameters, including time-averaged wall shear stress (TAWSS), oscillatory shear index (OSI), relative residence time (RRT), Reynolds number (Re), and Dean number (De), evaluating laminar flow stability in the uterine artery and secondary flow patterns in the umbilical artery. Since blood exhibits shear-dependent viscosity and complex rheological behavior, modeling it as a non-Newtonian fluid is essential to accurately capture pulsatile flow dynamics and wall shear stresses in these vessels. Unlike conventional imaging techniques, CFD offers enhanced visualization of blood flow characteristics such as streamlines, velocity distributions, and instantaneous particle motion, providing insights that are not easily captured by Doppler ultrasound alone. Specifically, CFD reveals secondary flow patterns in the umbilical artery, which interact with the primary flow, a phenomenon that is challenging to observe with ultrasound. These findings refine existing hemodynamic models, provide population-specific reference values for clinical assessments, and improve our understanding of the relationship between umbilical arterial flow dynamics and fetal growth restriction, with important implications for maternal and fetal health monitoring. FIB-4 Score as a Predictor of Eligibility for Elastography Exam in Patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Background/objectives: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) are common co-morbidities in women of reproductive age. PCOS is highly heterogeneous and is, therefore, divided into four phenotypes. MASLD leads to numerous systemic complications. Studies to date have shown an association between PCOS and MASLD. This study was designed to compare the FIB-4 score (based on age, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase and platelet count) and the results of shear wave elastography in assessing the risk of developing MASLD by patients with PCOS divided by phenotypes. Methods: The study enrolled 242 women age 18–35 years with PCOS diagnosed according to Rotterdam criteria, hospitalized at the Department of Gynaecological Endocrinology of the University Clinical Centre in Katowice. The study subjects were assigned to phenotypes A to D. Clinical and biochemical assessments were performed (including androgens and metabolic parameters), and the FIB-4 index was calculated. Liver fibrosis was evaluated by shear wave elastography. To balance the group sizes of phenotypes, oversampling with replacement was applied (PROC SURVEYSELECT, SAS), increasing the number of observations for phenotypes B, C, and D fivefold. Statistical analyses were performed based on data distribution (Shapiro–Wilk test), using ANOVA or the Kruskal–Wallis test with Dunn’s correction. Statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. Results: The FIB-4 score was the highest in phenotype B patients (0.50 ± 0.15), and the lowest in phenotypes A and C (0.42 ± 0.14). The highest rate of positive elastography findings was recorded in phenotype A patients (34.7%) and the lowest in phenotype C group (13.5%). Significant differences between the phenotypes were also found in terms of androgen levels, insulin, HOMA-IR, and the lipid profile. Among patients with positive elastography, the highest FIB-4 scores were recorded in phenotype C group (0.44 ± 0.06), but the differences between the phenotypes were not statistically significant. Conclusions: The FIB-4 score was the highest in phenotype B patients and differed significantly from phenotypes A, C and D. In the elastography exam, the fibrosis index was statistically significantly higher in phenotype A compared to other phenotypes. No correlation was detected between the FIB-4 index and positive elastography. The findings suggest that the FIB-4 index may be used for MASLD screening, but its usefulness as a predictor of eligibility for elastography requires more research. Full article

Lighting Systems (LSs) are a key component of modern cities. Across the years, thousands of articles have been published on this topic; nevertheless, a map of the state of the art of the extant literature is lacking. The present review reports on an analysis of the network of the co-occurrences of the authors’ keywords from 12,148 Scopus-indexed articles on LSs published between 1995 and 2024. This review addresses the following research questions: (RQ1) What are the major topics explored by scholars in connection with LSs within the 1995–2024 time frame? (RQ2) How do they group together? The investigation leveraged VOSviewer, an open-source software largely used for performing bibliometric analyses. The number of thematic clusters returned by VOSviewer was determined by the value of the minimum number of occurrences needed for the authors’ keywords to be admitted into the business analysis. If such a number is not properly chosen, the consequence is a set of clusters that do not represent meaningful patterns of the input dataset. In the present study, to overcome this issue, the threshold value balanced the score of four independent clustering validity indices against the authors’ judgment of a meaningful partition of the input dataset. In addition, our review delved into the impact that the use/non-use of a thesaurus of the authors’ keywords had on the number and composition of the thematic clusters returned by VOSviewer and, ultimately, on how this choice affected the correctness of the interpretation of the clusters. The study adhered to a well-known protocol, whose implementation is reported in detail. Thus, the workflow is transparent and replicable. Full article

Beech forests in the Italian peninsula are actively managed and they also support a high level of biodiversity. Hence, biodiversity conservation can be synergistic with timber production and carbon sequestration, enhancing the overall economic benefits of forest management. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of forest management regimes on bird communities in the Italian Peninsula during 2022 through audio recordings. We studied the structure, composition, and specialization of the breeding bird community in four managed beech stands (three even-aged beech stands aged 20, 60, and 100 years old, managed by a uniform shelterwood system; one uneven-aged stand, managed by a single-tree selection system) and one uneven-aged, unmanaged beech stand in the northern Apennines (Tuscany region, Italy). Between April and June 2022, data were collected through four 1-hour audio recording sessions per site, analyzing 5 min sequences. The unmanaged stand hosted a richer (a higher number of species, p < 0.001) and more specialized (a higher number of cavity-nesting species, p < 0.001; higher Woodland Bird Community Index (WBCI) values, p < 0.001; and eight characteristic species, including at least four highly specialized ones) bird community, compared to all the managed forests; moreover, the latter were homogeneous (similar to each other). Our study suggests that the unmanaged beech forests should be a priority option for conservation, while in terms of the managed beech forests, greater attention should be paid to defining the thresholds for snags, deadwood, and large trees to be retained to enhance their biodiversity value. Studies in additional sites, conducted over more years and including multi-taxon communities, are recommended for a deeper understanding and generalizable results. Full article

Background: Patients diagnosed with melanoma are at increased risk of developing multiple primary melanomas (MPMs). Identifying clinical and genetic factors associated with MPM is critical for implementing personalized surveillance strategies. This study aims to describe the clinical, histopathological, and genetic characteristics of patients with MPM managed in a tertiary hospital and to contextualize findings within the current literature. Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of patients diagnosed with two or more primary melanomas between 2010 and 2023 at a tertiary dermatology unit. Demographic data, personal and family cancer history, phototype, melanoma characteristics, genetic testing, staging, treatments, and outcomes were collected. These data were compared with findings from the recent literature. Results: Thirteen patients (ten males, three females; median age: 59 years) were found to have a total of 33 melanomas. Most patients had Fitzpatrick phototype II and no immunosuppression. The number of melanomas per patient ranged from two to five. Synchronous lesions were observed in two patients. Common locations included the trunk and extremities. Histologically, 57% were in situ melanomas, and subsequent melanomas were generally thinner than the index lesion. Two patients showed progression to advanced disease. One patient was positive for MC1R mutation; the rest were negative or inconclusive. Additional phenotypic and environmental risk factors were extracted from patient records and are summarized as follows: Ten patients (76.9%) had Fitzpatrick skin phototype II, and three (23.1%) had phototype III. Chronic occupational sun exposure was reported in four patients (30.8%), while five (38.5%) recalled having suffered multiple sunburns during childhood or adolescence. Eight patients (61.5%) presented with a total nevus count exceeding 50, and five (38.5%) exhibited clinically atypical nevi. None of the patients reported use of tanning beds. Conclusions: Our findings are consistent with the existing literature indicating that patients with MPM often present with thinner subsequent melanomas and require long-term dermatologic follow-up. The inclusion of genetic testing and phenotypic risk factors enables stratified surveillance and supports the application of personalized medicine in melanoma management. Full article

It is well-known that the necessary and sufficient condition for a connected graph to be unicyclic is that its omega invariant, a recently introduced graph invariant useful in combinatorial and topological calculations, is zero. This condition could be stated as the condition that the order and the size of the graph are equal. Using a recent result saying that the length of the unique cycle could be any integer between 1 and na1 where a1 is the number of pendant vertices in the graph, two explicit labeling algorithms are provided that attain these extremal values of the first and second Zagreb indices by means of an application of the well-known rearrangement inequality. When the cycle has the maximum length, we obtain the situation where all the pendant vertices are adjacent to the support vertices, the neighbors of the pendant vertices, which are placed only on the unique cycle. This makes it easy to calculate the second Zagreb index, as the contribution of the pendant edges to such indices is fixed, implying that we can only calculate these indices for the edges on the cycle. Foliar fertilization is an effective practice that improves both the yield and quality of maize, a crop with high and specific micronutrient demands. This study hypothesized that foliar application of Fe, Cu, Mn, Mo, Zn and B would improve grain size and quality in GS210 maize compared to the control. The single-factor field experiment was conducted in 2023–2024 on Haplic Cambisol (Eutric) soil, under a variety of meteorological conditions. The application of Zn and B fertilizers significantly increased the soil plant analysis development (SPAD) index. Yield components (number of grains per ear, thousand-grain weight) and grain yield increased significantly following Zn foliar application compared to the control. Zn application increased grain yield by 0.59 t ha−1 and 0.49 t ha−1 in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Smaller but beneficial effects were observed with Cu and B applications. In contrast, the effects of fertilization with other micronutrients (Fe, Mn, Mo) were less pronounced than anticipated. Biochemical analyses revealed that foliar fertilization with Fe, Cu and Mo increased total phenolic content and antioxidant capacity, while Fe and Mo enhanced carotenoid accumulation, and Cu and B significantly influenced grain color parameters. The study highlights the potential of foliar fertilization to improve maize performance and grain quality, despite possible antagonisms between micronutrients. Full article

Pavement skid resistance is of vital importance for road safety. The objective of this study is to propose and validate a texture-based image indicator to predict pavement friction. This index enables pavement friction to be predicted easily and inexpensively using digital images, with predictions correlated to Dynamic Friction Tester (DFT) measurements. Three different types of asphalt surfaces (Dense-Grade Asphalt Concrete, Open-Grade Friction Course, and Chip Seal) were evaluated subject to various tire polishing cycles. Images were taken with corresponding friction coefficients obtained using DFT in the laboratory. The aggregate protrusion area is proposed as the indicator. Statistical models are established for each asphalt surface type to correlate the proposed indicator with friction coefficients. The results show that the adjusted R-squared values of all relationships are above 0.90. Compared to other image-based indicators in the literature, the proposed image indicator more accurately reflects the changes in pavement friction with the number of polishing cycles, proving its cost-effective use for considering pavement friction in the mix design stage. Deep Storage Irrigation Enhances Grain Yield of Winter Wheat by Improving Plant Growth and Grain-Filling Process in Northwest China

In the irrigation districts of Northern China, the flood resources utilization for deep storage irrigation, which is essentially characterized by active excessive irrigation, aims to have the potential to mitigate freshwater shortages, and long-term groundwater overexploitation. It is crucial to detect the effects of irrigation amounts on agricultural yield and the mechanisms under deep storage irrigation. A three-year field experiment (2020–2023) was conducted in the Guanzhong Plain, according to five soil wetting layer depths (RF: 0 cm; W1: control, 120 cm; W2: 140 cm; W3: 160 cm; W4: 180 cm) with soil saturation water content as the irrigation upper limit. Results exhibited that, compared to W1, the W2, W3, and W4 treatments led to the increased plant height, leaf area index, and dry matter accumulation. Meanwhile, the W2, W3, and W4 treatments improved kernel weight increment achieving maximum grain-filling rate (Wmax), maximum grain-filling rate (Gmax), and average grain-filling rate (Gave), thereby enhancing the effective spikes (ES) and grain number per spike (GS), and thus increased wheat grain yield (GY). In relative to W1, the W2, W3, and W4 treatments increased the ES, GS, and GY by 11.89–19.81%, 8.61–14.36%, and 8.17–13.62% across the three years. Notably, no significant difference was observed in GS and GY between W3 and W4 treatments, but W4 treatment displayed significant decreases in ES by 3.04%, 3.06%, and 2.98% in the respective years. The application of a structural equation modeling (SEM) revealed that deep storage irrigation improved ES and GS by positively regulating Wmax, Gmax, and Gave, thus significantly increasing GY. Overall, this study identified the optimal threshold (W3 treatment) to maximize wheat yields by optimizing both the vegetative growth and grain-filling dynamics. This study provides essential support for the feasibility assessment of deep storage irrigation before flood seasons, which is vital for the balance and coordination of food security and water security. Insulin resistance is a fundamental pathophysiological mechanism contributing to the development of type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Recently, attention has focused on mitochondria’s role in glucose and lipid metabolism. Mitochondrial dysfunction is strongly associated with impaired energy metabolism and elevated oxidative stress. We investigated the mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) copy number in subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) and visceral adipose tissue (VAT) in insulin-sensitive (IS) and insulin-resistant (IR) individuals. Twenty-seven paired adipose tissue biopsies were obtained during elective abdominal surgery. DNA and RNA were extracted, and mtDNA copy number was quantified using Real-Time PCR. We found that mtDNA content in VAT was approximately two-fold lower than in SAT. Furthermore, in IR individuals, mtDNA copy number was significantly reduced in both SAT and VAT compared to IS subjects. A strong positive correlation was observed between mtDNA content in VAT and body mass index (BMI), and a negative correlation was found with the QUICKI index. Additionally, mtDNA copy number in VAT positively correlated with the expression of several genes involved in insulin signalling, lipid metabolism, and other metabolic pathways. These findings underscore the central role of mitochondrial function in VAT in the context of metabolic disorders and suggest that targeting mitochondrial regulation in this tissue may represent a promising therapeutic approach. Background/Objectives: The SARS-CoV-2 and influenza A (H1N1)pdm09 pandemics have resulted in high numbers of ICU admissions, with high mortality. Identifying risk factors for ICU mortality at the time of admission can help optimize clinical decision making. However, the risk factors identified may differ, depending on the type of analysis used. Our aim is to compare the risk factors and performance of a linear model (multivariable logistic regression, GLM) with a non-linear model (random forest, RF) in a large national cohort. Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on a multicenter database including 8902 critically ill patients with influenza A (H1N1)pdm09 or COVID-19 admitted to 184 Spanish ICUs. Demographic, clinical, laboratory, and microbiological data from the first 24 h were used. Prediction models were built using GLM and RF. The performance of the GLM was evaluated by area under the ROC curve (AUC), precision, sensitivity, and specificity, while the RF by out-of-bag (OOB) error and accuracy. In addition, in the RF, the im-portance of the variables in terms of accuracy reduction (AR) and Gini index reduction (GI) was determined. Results: Overall mortality in the ICU was 25.8%. Model performance was similar, with AUC = 76% for GLM, and AUC = 75.6% for RF. GLM identified 17 independent risk factors, while RF identified 19 for AR and 23 for GI. Thirteen variables were found to be important in both models. Laboratory variables such as procalcitonin, white blood cells, lactate, or D-dimer levels were not significant in GLM but were significant in RF. On the contrary, acute kidney injury and the presence of Acinetobacter spp. were important variables in the GLM but not in the RF. Conclusions: Although the performance of linear and non-linear models was similar, different risk factors were determined, depending on the model used. This alerts clinicians to the limitations and usefulness of studies limited to a single type of model. Full article

With the objective of identifying superior Vernicia montana trees grounded in phenotypic and agronomic traits, this study sought to develop and implement a comprehensive evaluation method which would provide a practical foundation for future clonal breeding initiatives. Using the Vernicia montana propagated from seedling forests grown in the Suxian District of Chenzhou City in southern Hunan Province, we conducted pre-selection, primary selection, and re-selection of Vernicia montana forest stands and took the nine trait indices of single-plant fruiting quantity, single-plant fruit yield, disease and pest resistance, fruit ripening consistency, fruit aggregation, fresh fruit single-fruit weight, fresh fruit seed rate, dry seed kernel rate, and seed kernel oil content rate as the optimal evaluation indexes and carried out cluster analysis and a comprehensive evaluation in order to establish a comprehensive evaluation system for superior Vernicia montana trees. The results demonstrated that a three-stage selection process—consisting of pre-selection, primary selection, and re-selection—was conducted using a comprehensive analytical approach. The pre-selection phase relied primarily on sensory evaluation criteria, including fruit count per plant, tree size, tree morphology, and fruit clustering characteristics. Through this rigorous screening process, 60 elite plants were selected. The primary selection was based on phenotypic traits, including single-plant fruit yield, pest and disease resistance, and uniformity of fruit ripening. From this stage, 36 plants were selected. Twenty plants were then selected for re-selection based on key performance indicators, such as fresh fruit weight, fresh fruit seed yield, dry seed kernel yield, and oil content of the seed kernel. Then the re-selected optimal trees were clustered and analyzed into three classes, with 10 plants in class I, 7 plants in class II, and 3 plants in class III. In class I, the top three superior plants exhibited outstanding performance across key traits: their fresh fruit weight per fruit, fresh fruit seed yield, dry seed yield, and seed kernel oil content reached 41.61 g, 42.80%, 62.42%, and 57.72%, respectively. Compared with other groups, these figures showed significant advantages: 1.17, 1.09, 1.12, and 1.02 times the average values of the 20 reselected superior trees; 1.22, 1.19, 1.20, and 1.08 times those of the 36 primary-selected superior trees; and 1.24, 1.25, 1.26, and 1.19 times those of the 60 pre-selected trees. Fruits counts per plant and the number of fruits produced per plant of the best three plants in class I were 885 and 23.38 kg, respectively, which were 1.13 and 1.18 times higher than the average of 20 re-selected superior trees, 1.25 and 1.30 times higher than the average of 36 first-selected superior trees, and 1.51 and 1.58 times higher than the average of 60 pre-selected superior trees. Class I superior trees, especially the top three genotypes, are suitable for use as mother trees for scion collection in grafting. The findings of this study provide a crucial foundation for developing superior clonal varieties of Vernicia montana through selective breeding. Full article

Background: COVID-19-associated coagulopathy (CAC) is a complex condition, with high rates of thrombosis, high levels of inflammation markers and hypercoagulation (increased levels of fibrinogen and D-Dimer), as well as extensive microthrombosis in the lungs and other organs of the deceased. It resembles, without being identical, other coagulation disorders such as sepsis-DIC (SIC/DIC), hemophagocyte syndrome (HPS) and thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA). Platelets (PLTs), key regulators of thrombosis, inflammation and immunity, are considered an important risk mediator in COVID-19 pathogenesis. Platelet index MPV/PLT ratio is reported in the literature as more specific in the prognosis of platelet-related systemic thrombogenicity. Studies of MPV/PLT ratio with regards to the severity of COVID-19 disease are limited, and there are no references regarding this ratio to the outcome of COVID-19 disease at specific time points of hospitalization. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship of COVID-19 mortality with the red cell distribution width–coefficient of variation (RDW-CV), platelets and MPV/PLT ratio parameters. Methods: Values of these parameters in 511 COVID-19 hospitalized patients were recorded (a) on admission, (b) as mean values of the 1st and 2nd week of hospitalization, (c) over the total duration of hospitalization, (d) as nadir and zenith values, and (e) at discharge. Results: As for mortality (survivors vs. deceased), statistical analysis with ROC curves showed that regarding the values of the parameters on admission, only the RDW-CV baseline was of prognostic value. Platelet parameters, absolute number and MPV/PLT ratio had predictive potential for the disease outcome only as 2nd week values. On the contrary, with regards to disease severity (mild/moderate versus severe/critical), only the MPV/PLT ratio on admission can be used for prognosis, and to a moderate degree. On multivariable logistic regression analysis, only the RDW-CV mean hospitalization value (RDW-CV mean) was an independent and prognostic variable for mortality. Regarding disease severity, the MPV/PLT ratio on admission and RDW-CV mean were independent and prognostic variables. Conclusions: RDW-CV, platelets and MPV/PLT ratio hematological parameters could be of predictive value for mortality and severity in COVID-19 disease, depending on the hospitalization timeline. Background/Objectives: Global warming and rising CO2 concentrations pose significant challenges to plant systems. Amid these pressures, this study contributes to understanding how tropical species respond by simultaneously evaluating reproductive and genetic traits. It specifically investigates the effects of maternal exposure to warming and elevated CO2 on progeny physiology, genetic diversity, and population structure in Stylosanthes capitata, a resilient forage legume native to Brazil. Methods: Maternal plants were cultivated under controlled treatments, including ambient conditions (control), elevated CO2 at 600 ppm (eCO2), elevated temperature at +2 °C (eTE), and their combined exposure (eTEeCO2), within a Trop-T-FACE field facility (Temperature Free-Air Controlled Enhancement and Free-Air Carbon Dioxide Enrichment). Seed traits (seeds per inflorescence, hundred-seed mass, abortion, non-viable seeds, coat color, germination at 32, 40, 71 weeks) and abnormal seedling rates were quantified. Genetic diversity metrics included the average (A) and effective (Ae) number of alleles, observed (Ho) and expected (He) heterozygosity, and inbreeding coefficient (Fis). Population structure was assessed using Principal Coordinates Analysis (PCoA), Analysis of Molecular Variance (AMOVA), number of migrants per generation (Nm), and genetic differentiation index (Fst). Two- and three-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were used to evaluate factor effects. Results: Compared to control conditions, warming increased seeds per inflorescence (+46%), reduced abortion (−42.9%), non-viable seeds (−57%), and altered coat color. The germination speed index (GSI +23.5%) and germination rate (Gr +11%) improved with warming; combined treatments decreased germination time (GT −9.6%). Storage preserved germination traits, with warming enhancing performance over time and reducing abnormal seedlings (−54.5%). Conversely, elevated CO2 shortened GSI in late stages, impairing germination efficiency. Warming reduced Ae (−35%), He (−20%), and raised Fis (maternal 0.50, progeny 0.58), consistent with the species’ mixed mating system; A and Ho were unaffected. Allele frequency shifts suggested selective pressure under eTE. Warming induced slight structure in PCoA, and AMOVA detected 1% (maternal) and 9% (progeny) variation. Fst = 0.06 and Nm = 3.8 imply environmental influence without isolation. Conclusions: Warming significantly shapes seed quality, reproductive success, and genetic diversity in S. capitata. Improved reproduction and germination suggest adaptive advantages, but higher inbreeding and reduced diversity may constrain long-term resilience. The findings underscore the need for genetic monitoring and broader genetic bases in cultivars confronting environmental stressors. Full article
