Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Uremic syndrome is characterized by the retention of various solutes, called uremic toxins, that would normally be excreted by the kidneys. Uremic toxins have been shown to be associated with mortality or morbidity. This special supplement aims to address the role of uremic toxins and new uremic retention solutes and their pathophysiological mechanisms in various systems, such as the vascular system, bones, skeletal mass, protein catabolism, and microbiota in young and older patients in pre-dialysis and dialysis treatment, as well as new strategies to reduce the impact of these toxins.
