Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Enhancing fruit quality and improving postharvest physiology is critical for extending shelf life, reducing losses, and ensuring consumer satisfaction. Innovative approaches have emerged to address these challenges, leveraging advancements in biotechnology, materials science, and sustainable practices. Here are some cutting-edge strategies monitored by this Special Issue:

  • Genetic Engineering and CRISPR Technology;
  • Controlled Atmosphere (CA) and Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP);
  • Nanotechnology in Coatings and Packaging;
  • Postharvest Treatment with Natural Preservatives;
  • Preharvest Practices for Postharvest Benefits;
  • Precision Ripening Control;
  • UV-C and Ozone Treatment;
  • Blockchain and Supply Chain Transparency;
  • Hormonal Treatments.

These innovative approaches combine advanced technologies with natural, sustainable practices to enhance fruit quality and postharvest physiology. Focusing on genetic, chemical, and environmental factors aims to maintain freshness, flavor, and nutritional value while reducing food waste and supporting sustainable agricultural practices. This Special Issue of Plants will highlight the innovative approaches to enhancing fruit quality and postharvest physiology.
