Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Amyloidosis represents a complex and heterogeneous group of protein misfolding disorders characterized by the extracellular deposition of insoluble amyloid fibrils in tissues and organs. Most amyloidoses are considered rare, and they are often diagnosed late. Amyloidosis became increasingly recognized thanks to advances in molecular diagnostics, imaging, and genetics. Despite this progress, major challenges remain in early detection, understanding organ-specific vulnerability, and optimizing chronic treatment strategies. This Special Issue aims to provide a complex overview of amyloidosis, bridging translational research, drug discovery and clinical practices.
In this Special Issue, we welcome original research articles and reviews with a strong emphasis on therapeutic and pharmacological aspects of amyloidosis. Topics of interest include the molecular basis of amyloid formation as it relates to drug targeting, and genetic determinants influencing treatment response. Particular attention will be given to disease-modifying therapies, such as gene-silencing approaches, protein stabilizers, and emerging pharmacological strategies aimed at reducing amyloid burden or preventing fibril formation. Contributions addressing clinical efficacy, safety, long-term outcomes, real-world evidence, and the impact of treatments on quality of life and treatment success are especially welcome. We look forward to creating a Special Issue that highlights how advances in pharmacology are guiding meaningful improvements in the management of patients with amyloidosis.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Pharmaceuticals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
