Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue of Pharmaceuticals, entitled “Innovative Drug Strategies in Chronic Disease Management: Addressing Non-Adherence and Improving Therapeutic Outcomes”.
The increasing prevalence of chronic diseases has become one of the most important public health problems worldwide. Chronic diseases are associated with increased medication use and complex drug regimens. High medication use leads to polymedication, which is strongly associated with non-adherence and a reduced quality of life. Meanwhile, non-adherence has negative impacts in relation to clinical outcomes, such as furthering disease progression and increasing mortality, as well as in the form of rising healthcare costs.
To address these issues and improve chronic disease outcomes, methods to measure medication adherence must be implemented in daily clinical practice. The early identification of non-adherent patients will allow strategies to be implemented, to ensure the effectiveness of prescribed medications.
This Special Issue will showcase innovative research on improving medication adherence, highlighting possible new approaches to developing personalized therapeutic strategies for chronic diseases. For this Special Issue, submissions of original research articles and reviews are welcome. The selected set of manuscripts will be published as a Special Issue of Pharmaceuticals.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.
