Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue explores the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the human–microbiome axis in cardiovascular precision medicine. While genomic factors account for significant variability in drug response (IVDR), they often fail to explain the complex metabolic interplay between the host and the gut microbiota. With a microbial gene count approximately 150 times larger than the human genome, this "metabolic organ" critically influences the efficacy and safety of oral anticoagulants. We invite research applying machine learning to integrate high-dimensional multi-omics data, specifically transcriptomics, proteomics, and metagenomics, to map host-symbiont interactions. Key areas of interest include the development of predictive models for AF readmission, novel biomarker extraction for anticoagulant metabolism, and the identification of drug-microbiome interactions that influence therapeutic outcomes. The goal is to translate these data-driven insights into clinically actionable tools that reduce major complications like stroke and heart failure, bridging the gap between laboratory discovery and clinical practice.
