Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue will focus on the rapidly evolving field of nutritional therapy as a complementary and, in some cases, primary approach to the prevention and management of skin diseases. Increasing amounts of evidence highlights the significant role of diet, specific nutrients, and metabolic pathways in maintaining skin homeostasis and modulating inflammatory and immune responses.

The Special Issue will showcase recent developments in our understanding of how macro- and micronutrients—including vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, probiotics, and bioactive compounds—affect the pathophysiology of common dermatological conditions such as acne, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and skin aging. Particular emphasis is placed on mechanisms involving oxidative stress, the gut–skin axis, microbiome interactions, and nutrigenomics.

We also seek to explore clinical and translational research addressing dietary interventions, supplementation strategies, and personalized nutrition approaches tailored to individual patient profiles. Emerging therapeutic perspectives, including functional foods and novel nutraceuticals, will also be considered.

By integrating basic science with clinical evidence, this Special Issue will provide a comprehensive overview of current knowledge and future directions in nutritional dermatology, supporting the development of more effective, holistic strategies for skin health.
