Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Recent advances in polymer chemistry, crosslinking strategies, and fabrication methods have enabled the creation of hydrogel systems with improved stability, responsiveness, and precise control over biochemical and physical cues. This Special Issue aims to gather original research articles and reviews on recent progress and emerging trends in the biomedical applications of hydrogels, spanning their design, characterization, and translational validation. Topics of interest include hydrogels for drug/gene delivery, wound healing, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, 3D bioprinting, and biosensing, with particular attention to injectable/in situ forming, stimuli-responsive, and multifunctional systems (e.g., self-healing, adhesive, conductive, antimicrobial, immunomodulatory). Contributions addressing in vivo performance, biocompatibility, and clinical and industrial translation are welcome.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
