Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) constitute one of the largest families of membrane receptors and play essential roles in regulating numerous physiological and pathophysiological processes. Through receptor-mediated signaling pathways, GPCRs regulate diverse cellular events, including cell proliferation, apoptosis, inflammation, and metabolism. Consequently, GPCRs have emerged as one of the most important targets in modern drug discovery. Recent advances in structural biology, molecular pharmacology, computational approaches, and receptor signaling have greatly expanded our understanding of GPCR biology and accelerated the development of novel therapeutic strategies.

This Special Issue aims to highlight recent advances and emerging trends in GPCR research and their applications in drug discovery. Original research articles, short communications, and review articles are welcome.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • GPCR structure and function;
  • GPCR signaling pathways and molecular mechanisms;
  • Ligand–receptor interactions;
  • Biased agonism and allosteric modulation;
  • GPCRs as therapeutic targets in human diseases;
  • Novel drug candidates targeting GPCRs;
  • Computational and structure-based drug design;
  • Translational and preclinical studies involving GPCRs.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
