Dear Colleagues,
Ionizing radiation has been known for over 100 years, and during this time, a number of potential applications have been developed. Unfortunately, the use of radiation carries certain risks. Living organisms exposed to radiation can suffer harm or even death. Therefore, it is important to adequately protect ourselves from the effects of ionizing radiation. Among the three main factors influencing the received dose (exposure time, distance from the source, and shielding), one offers enormous scope for research, including the development of shielding materials against ionizing radiation. This Special Issue will be a platform for scientists, physicians, and engineers who routinely work with ionizing radiation to present the results of their research on nano- and micromaterials designed to effectively shield against ionizing radiation.
Experimental papers, in which authors provide new data and present new materials for radiation shielding, are particularly welcome. Theoretical studies should be supported by reliable experimental data presented along with the paper or published earlier. The concepts of real-life application of nano and micromaterials in shielding can be presented as original papers or communications. Finally, review-type manuscripts that focus on the shielding properties of nano- and micromaterials and their application fall into the scope of this Special Issue.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
