Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Liposome-based drug delivery systems have attracted considerable attention due to their ability to enhance the stability, solubility, and bioavailability of a wide range of bioactive/drug compounds. Owing to their versatile structure and biocompatibility, liposomes have been widely explored in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and food-related applications. Continuous advancements in formulation strategies and material design have further improved their functional performance, particularly in terms of encapsulation efficiency, controlled release, and targeted delivery.

This Special Issue aims to present and disseminate the most recent developments in liposomal drug delivery systems. We welcome contributions focusing on formulation approaches, physicochemical characterization, molecular interactions, and release mechanisms. Studies addressing key challenges such as stability, scalability, and delivery efficiency are particularly encouraged. In line with the scope of Molecules, research providing molecular-level insights, as well as interdisciplinary applications, will be of special interest.

Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to:

  • Liposome formulation and modification strategies;
  • Encapsulation of bioactive compounds;
  • Controlled and targeted release systems;
  • Stability and bioavailability enhancement;
  • Molecular interactions and characterization techniques;
  • Emerging materials and system integration approaches;
  • Applications in food, pharmaceutical, and biomedical fields.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
