Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Metabolic syndrome is increasingly diagnosed in children and adolescents, largely driven by the global rise in pediatric obesity and sedentary lifestyles. Early metabolic disturbances during childhood are associated with oxidative stress, chronic low-grade inflammation, insulin resistance, and early organ involvement—including metabolic liver disease.

Emerging evidence suggests that micronutrients play a crucial role in modulating oxidative balance and metabolic pathways. Deficiencies or imbalances in vitamins, trace elements, and antioxidant com-pounds may influence mitochondrial function, lipid metabolism, and inflammatory responses, poten-tially contributing to the development and progression of metabolic syndrome in pediatric populations.

This Special Issue focuses on the complex interactions between metabolic syndrome, oxidative stress, and micronutrients in children and adolescents. We welcome original research, clinical studies, and reviews addressing biomarkers of oxidative stress, micronutrient status, nutritional determinants of metabolic risk, metabolic-associated fatty liver disease, and early preventive or therapeutic strategies in pediatric populations.
By integrating clinical, biochemical, and nutritional perspectives, this Special Issue aims to improve understanding of metabolic dysfunction early in life and support strategies for prevention and early intervention.
