Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Tissue engineering using biopolymeric scaffolds is rapidly emerging in the medical, dental, and engineering fields as a viable tool for regenerative medicine applications. Although various approaches with biologic delivery systems have been developed for formations of hard or soft tissues, the regeneration of dental-oral-craniofacial (D.O.C.) defects as a consequence of disease or injury has been challenged due to structural complications, micron-scaled interfaces, and specific tissue architectures. To overcome the difficulties, various fabrication techniques of biopolymeric materials have been recently developed to create tissue-interactive scaffold geometrics, physically or chemically characterized surfaces, or tissue-specific architectures as well as biodegradable polymers for D.O.C. complexes.

This Special Issue “Biopolymer-Based Tissue Engineering Strategies for Dental-Oral-Craniofacial Tissue Neogeneses” will mainly focus on in vitro and in vivo D.O.C. tissue regeneration based on the biodegradability of biopolymeric materials, biopolymer fabrications, biopolymer scaffold manufacturing, bioactive scaffolding system with various biologic deliveries, or any biodegradable polymeric material applications for D.O.C. tissues like periodontal tissues (periodontal ligament, alveolar bone, or cementum), tooth components (pulp, dentin, or enamel), salivary gland, temporomandibular joint (TMJ), or any tissues of maxillocraniofacial constructs. For the Special Issue, original research articles, review articles, or communications are all welcome.
