Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Chronic diseases include cardiovascular disorders, diabetes, cancer, neurodegenerative conditions, osteoarthritis, etc. They are long-lasting health conditions that require ongoing medical attention and continue to pose significant global health challenges, accounting for the majority of deaths and long-term disabilities worldwide. Despite advances in modern medicine, current therapeutic options often come with limitations such as adverse effects, high costs, and drug resistance. This growing burden has prompted renewed interest in natural products as complementary or alternative interventions with potential to address these unmet needs.

This Special Issue, titled "Therapeutic Potential of Natural Products in Chronic Diseases", brings together a collection of cutting-edge research articles and comprehensive reviews that explore the efficacy, mechanisms of action, and clinical relevance of natural compounds derived from plants, fungi, marine organisms, and other sources. Emphasis is placed on bioactive constituents such as polyphenols, flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, and peptides, which have shown promise in modulating key pathological pathways involved in chronic disease progression, including oxidative stress, inflammation, apoptosis, and metabolic dysregulation.

We aim to provide an interdisciplinary platform that bridges natural product research with clinical applications, highlighting both traditional knowledge and modern scientific advances. Contributions in this Special Issue span in vitro, in vivo, and clinical studies, offering a holistic view of the therapeutic landscape.

We invite you to contribute to this Special Issue titled “Therapeutic Potential of Natural Products in Chronic Diseases”. This Special Issue will not only enhance scientific understanding but also inspire future innovation in the development of safer, more effective treatments based on nature’s pharmacopoeia.
