Urban Contexts and Urban-Rural Interactions
Section Information
The “Urban Contexts and Urban–Rural Interactions” section of Land welcomes contributions focusing on patterns, processes and dynamics in urban landscapes and cities, as well as examinations of areas along the urban–rural gradient. The section is open to submissions dealing with urban systems studies, land use change, urban land governance, urbanization impacts on ecosystems and their services in cities, the future of inner-urban and peri-urbanization, the urban heat island, carbon emissions related to urban−rural land use, biodiversity aspects in and of cities, rewilding and nature conservation in urban ecosystems and along urban boundaries, urban planning and governance of green infrastructure and nature-based solutions, land issues in sustainable cities, and the role of big data in urban social−ecological land studies.
Manuscripts can be of a conceptual−theoretical nature. We welcome case studies and other applied research, “state of science and beyond’’ reviews, and topical short communications. Inter- and transdisciplinary manuscripts are also highly welcome, as are proposals for Special Issues in the field of “Urban Contexts and Urban–Rural Interactions”.
