Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and related conditions, represent a growing global health challenge due to aging populations and increased life expectancy. These disorders impose substantial clinical, societal, and economic burdens, and current therapeutic strategies remain largely symptomatic and fail to halt disease progression. Increasing evidence highlights the complex interplay between genetic susceptibility, environmental exposures, molecular pathways, and individual variability, underscoring the need for more personalized approaches to diagnosis, prevention, and treatment.

Recent advances in genomics, multi-omics technologies, biomarker discovery, artificial intelligence, and digital health have accelerated the transition toward precision medicine in neurology. These innovations offer unprecedented opportunities to identify disease subtypes, predict individual risk, monitor disease progression, and develop targeted therapeutic interventions. Precision medicine holds promise not only for improving clinical outcomes but also for enabling more efficient clinical trials and optimizing healthcare resource allocation.

This Special Issue aims to present and disseminate the most recent advances related to precision medicine approaches in neurodegenerative disorders. We welcome contributions addressing genetic and molecular mechanisms, biomarker discovery, individualized therapeutic strategies, AI-driven prediction models, and translational research bridging laboratory discoveries with clinical applications.

Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Genomic and multi-omics approaches in neurodegenerative disorders;
  • Biomarkers for early diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment response;
  • Longevity and Antiaging topics;
  • Pharmacogenomics and individualized therapeutic strategies;
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning in precision neurology;
  • Gene–environment interactions and disease susceptibility;
  • Population diversity and multi-ancestry genomic studies;
  • Molecular mechanisms and targeted therapies;
  • Digital biomarkers and wearable technologies;
  • Translational and clinical precision medicine applications;
  • Ethical, social, and implementation challenges in precision medicine.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Personalized Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
