Dear Colleagues,
Coronary artery disease (CAD) remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, driving continued efforts in both preclinical and clinical research. The primary goals of these investigations are to improve life expectancy and quality of life for patients while simultaneously reducing healthcare-associated costs. To ensure that emerging developments genuinely meet clinical needs, three critical factors must be addressed: rigorous outpatient selection, the availability of safe and effective percutaneous devices and surgical techniques, and a methodologically careful research approach.
This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest discoveries and novel findings in the field of CAD. It welcomes not only original research articles and comprehensive reviews but also analyses of previously published data, as well as new opinions and perspectives on targeted diagnosis and treatment. By integrating these diverse contributions, the Issue seeks to bridge gaps between current knowledge and clinical practice.
Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the following topics: myocardial circulation and the pathophysiologic changes occurring during ischemia and after revascularization; percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), with an emphasis on emerging techniques and novel technologies; coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), particularly focusing on functional-based revascularization or total arterial revascularization; the application of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) for imaging guidance; physiological assessment tools such as fractional flow reserve (FFR) and instantaneous wave-free ratio (iFR); and the biological processes of angiogenesis following either percutaneous or surgical revascularization. Through this broad scope, the issue aims to foster innovations that directly translate into improved patient care and long-term outcomes.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
