Dear Colleagues,
Medical imaging has undergone paradigm shifts over recent decades. Technological evolution has fostered novel diagnostic approaches, driven not only by the introduction of advanced hardware (such as ultra-high-field MRI and photon-counting CT) but also by software implementations. Specifically, deep learning (DL) protocols and artificial intelligence (AI) integration are profoundly restructuring clinical workflows. While these advancements significantly expand the diagnostic arsenal, they simultaneously complicate the operational landscape on both local (within radiology departments) and global scales. Consequently, radiologists must selectively customize their approaches to expedite diagnostic accuracy. Integrating these emerging techniques and embedding AI and DL systems into clinical practice will yield synergistic combinations that augment diagnostic efficacy. Nonetheless, further investigation remains essential to validate these emerging diagnostic modalities and explore novel synergies arising from the convergence of these cutting-edge technologies.
This Special Issue aims to present and disseminate the latest advancements in the integration of advanced imaging modalities and artificial intelligence (AI) within clinical practice. We welcome contributions addressing the applications of deep learning (DL) and AI—ranging from diagnostic refinement to workflow optimization—with particular focus on emerging imaging technologies.
Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Applications of AI and DL in medical imaging
- Emerging technologies, including photon-counting and spectral CT, as well as high-field and functional MRI

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
