Dear Colleagues,
Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) continues to evolve rapidly, driven by advances in device technology, procedural techniques and adjunctive pharmacotherapy that have translated into improved procedural success and long‑term clinical outcomes. This Special Issue, “Innovations in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention,” aims to showcase cutting‑edge developments across the full spectrum of contemporary PCI. Topics of interest include novel stent platforms and drug‑coated technologies, emerging plaque modification strategies such as atherectomy and intravascular lithotripsy and advances in intracoronary imaging and physiology that enable truly individualized lesion assessment and optimization of stent deployment. In addition, we aim to highlight the growing role of coronary computed tomography angiography and CT‑derived physiology (for example, CT‑FFR and virtual PCI planning) in non‑invasive PCI planning and guidance, bridging the gap between diagnostic imaging and intraprocedural decision‑making. We also welcome work on mechanical circulatory support for complex or high‑risk indicated PCI and the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning into imaging, procedural planning and outcome prediction.
Submissions may include original clinical research, randomized trials or large observational registries, mechanistic and imaging studies, innovative technical reports and comprehensive state‑of‑the‑art reviews. Particular emphasis will be placed on studies that address real‑world practice, risk stratification, the optimization of patient selection and strategies to reduce complications and enhance long‑term outcomes of PCI. By bringing together experts in interventional cardiology, imaging and pharmacology, this Special Issue seeks to provide an up‑to‑date overview of the rapidly changing PCI landscape and to highlight future directions that may further refine and expand the role of catheter‑based coronary revascularization.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
