Dear Colleagues,
Pregnancy, a remarkable physiological state, is not without its challenges. Among the most pressing challenges in maternal–fetal medicine is the rising incidence of pregnancy-related complications such as gestational diabetes mellitus, preeclampsia, preterm labor, and others. These conditions not only pose immediate risks but can also have short- and long-term implications for both mothers and their children. Despite advancements in prenatal care, significant disparities remain in health outcomes based on socioeconomic status, access to care, and education.
This Special Issue will serve as a platform for multidisciplinary perspectives, bridging the gap between the latest research and clinical practices that address these pressing challenges. Building upon the successful first edition (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/jcm/special_issues/KLANESE548), this second edition explicitly targets emerging frontiers, including AI-driven risk stratification, novel biomarker validation, telemonitoring in underserved populations, and longitudinal postpartum health trajectories.
Within this scope, the primary objectives of this Special Issue include the following:
- Advanced Diagnostics & Early Risk Prediction: Novel biomarkers and AI/ML models for the early identification of preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and fetal growth restriction;
- Precision Management & Multidisciplinary Care Pathways: Standardized protocols, personalized interventions, and coordinated care models for complex or overlapping maternal–fetal comorbidities;
- Novel Therapeutics & Long-Term Postpartum Strategies: Emerging pharmacological, surgical, and lifestyle interventions, alongside research on maternal metabolic, cardiovascular, and mental health outcomes beyond the perinatal period.
We welcome original research, clinical trials, reviews, and implementation studies that advance the scientific understanding and practical management of pregnancy and its complications.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
