Burnout and Anxiety in Clinical and Occupational Contexts: Mental Health, Work-Related Stress, and Vulnerable Populations
This special issue belongs to the section “Mental Health“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Burnout and anxiety have emerged as critical challenges for mental and physical health in contemporary clinical and occupational settings. Increasing workloads, time pressure, job insecurity, emotional demands and work–life imbalance contribute to chronic stress, which may lead to burnout syndromes, anxiety disorders and other adverse health outcomes. These issues are particularly relevant among healthcare professionals, caregivers and working populations exposed to sustained psychosocial stressors, as well as among women and individuals during vulnerable life stages such as the perinatal period.
This Special Issue aims to examine the complex relationship between occupational stressors and mental health outcomes from a clinical medicine perspective. It welcomes original research and reviews addressing risk and protective factors, underlying mechanisms, psychosocial and biological determinants and short- and long-term consequences of burnout and anxiety. Topics of interest include assessment and screening tools, preventive strategies, organizational and clinical interventions, resilience-building approaches and clinically-based therapeutic or policy solutions.
By integrating clinical, psychological and occupational health perspectives, this Special Issue seeks to advance knowledge and support the development of effective interventions to improve mental health, promote well-being and foster healthier and more sustainable work environments.
