Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The aim of this Special Issue is to present the latest achievements in research regarding metagenomics, metataxonomics, metatranscriptomics, metabolomics, molecular biology, and interactions between micro- and macroorganisms in various environments. "Omic" studies in the analysis of environmental samples make it possible to learn about new microbiomes, monitor the composition of a consortium of microorganisms and study the possibilities of their use in agriculture and environmental protection. Moreover, the present knowledge on the application of the latest generation "omics" tools for analyses of soil samples, etc. Metagenomics tools make it possible to test all populations of microorganisms found in a specific environment and are inextricably linked with bioinformatics research and data analysis.

This Special Issue is being organized as part of the scientific conference "Metagenomes of various environments", which will be held on 23-24.06.2022 at the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation—National Research Institute in Puławy, Poland. The conference is organized in cooperation with IA PAN, UMCS, KUL and SGGW. This symposium is a cyclical scientific event covering the comprehensive diagnosis of the biodiversity of microorganisms in various environments. It allows for the transfer of knowledge and experience, the establishment of comprehensive cooperation and a lively discussion on the most up-to-date research methods.

This Special Issue intends to improve our understanding of the “comprehensive diagnosis of the biodiversity of microorganisms in various environments”. Submissions should consist of research on topics including (but not limited to):

  • Genetic diversity among soil microbial communities.
  • Metagenomics.
  • Metataxonomics.
  • Metatranscriptomics.
  • Metabolomics.
  • Molecular biology.
  • Interactions between micro- and macro-organisms in various environments.

We welcome submissions of research articles, reviews, and technical notes and communications related to these topics.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
