Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Cancer development and progression are driven by complex interactions between genetic and molecular alterations, metabolic reprogramming, chronic inflammation, oxidative stress and changes within the tumor microenvironment. Increasing evidence indicates that these processes are closely interconnected and may generate measurable molecular signatures with potential diagnostic, prognostic, predictive and treatment-related relevance.
Inflammatory, metabolic and redox biomarkers are therefore receiving growing attention across experimental, translational and clinical oncology. Cytokines, chemokines, adipokines, metabolites, oxidative stress markers, antioxidant systems, mitochondrial alterations and other circulating or tissue-derived molecules may reflect important aspects of tumor biology and host–tumor interactions. Their assessment may contribute to an improved understanding of carcinogenesis, tumor progression, metastatic potential, treatment response, therapeutic resistance and patient prognosis. At the same time, advances in molecular profiling, omics technologies, liquid biopsy approaches and precision oncology are creating new opportunities for identifying and validating integrated biomarker signatures.
This Special Issue aims to provide a broad platform for high-quality research addressing molecular mechanisms, biomarker discovery and validation and translational applications across different types of cancer. We welcome studies investigating inflammatory signaling, cancer metabolism, oxidative stress and redox homeostasis, mitochondrial dysfunction, the tumor microenvironment, immune–metabolic interactions and their relationships with cancer development, progression and treatment.
Original research articles and comprehensive review papers addressing experimental, translational, or clinical aspects of cancer biomarkers are welcome. Studies involving individual biomarkers as well as multi-marker panels, molecular signatures, omics-based approaches and novel analytical strategies are particularly encouraged. Contributions concerning diagnostic, prognostic and predictive biomarkers, treatment response and resistance, targeted therapies, immunotherapy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and personalized or precision oncology are also within the scope of this Special Issue.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
