Special Issue Information
Dear Colleague,
Natural medicines play a pivotal role in human civilization. Before the 20th century, human health protection relied entirely on natural medicines, and over the past 100 years, they have provided a source for the development of modern chemical drugs. Currently, humanity faces threats from various diseases, with old treatment needs unresolved and new diseases emerging one after another. Therefore, we must re-examine the role of natural medicines in disease treatment and prevention. This Special Issue aims to focus on natural medicines, including extracts, natural products, and natural product derivatives, to explore their characteristics and advantages in treating diseases. For extracts, chemical characterization is required. We welcome research derived from clinical needs and aim to explore the role and status of natural products in the era of biological drugs, with the expectation that both can complement each other, thereby offering more strategies to safeguard human health.
This Special Issue seeks to address the following research topics: (1) the pharmacodynamic advantages of natural drugs; (2) the synergistic effects of combining natural drugs with chemical drugs or biological drugs in enhancing efficacy and reducing toxicity; (3) toxicological studies of natural drugs; (4) the "multi-target, multi-pathway" pharmacodynamic or toxicodynamic mechanisms of natural drugs in treating and preventing diseases; (5) the application of natural drugs in elucidating disease pathological mechanisms and therapeutic targets; and (6) clinical studies of natural drugs.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
