Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

More than two billion cups of coffee are consumed every day and, for many people, life would feel very unfamiliar without it. Coffee caffeine causes people to regularly stay up late into the night, while the flavor triggered by the roasting of the beans is a source of enjoyment in which people take great pleasure. Islamic coffee house culture spread to Europe, where it had the chance to encounter alcoholic beverages. People's desire to enjoy the coffee aroma in other forms has led to the creation of various types of alcoholic coffee such as coffee liqueur, cocktails and coffee wine. However, even though there are a variety of market-available coffee liqueurs, the famous ingredient of caffeine in coffee arouses health concerns when it is mixed with alcohol.

The objective of this Special Issue is to publish original research and review articles on the various arguable aspects of "coffee and alcoholic beverage" originating from horticultural crops, in the view of preferences for flavor and health. The primary subject of this Special Issue may address the manufacturing (cooking) process, tastes, flavor, chemical composition and their correlation of "coffee-alcoholic beverage", followed by consumer's preferences. In this Special Issue, we may also pay attention to the potent health risk of the products claimed by some health care providers. Through this Special Issue, readers may take the balanced knowledge about "Coffee and Alcoholic Beverage: Fabulous or Abysmal Encounter?".

A total of 10 articles will be invited and the Special Issue may be printed in book form if the number is reached.

Manuscript Submission Information

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Horticulturae is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
