Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce this Special Issue dedicated to sustainable viticulture and its central role in wine quality, supported by innovative management strategies across the production chain.
It is widely recognized that wine quality is fundamentally determined in the vineyard, where the interaction between terroir, grapevine physiology, phytosanitary status, and management practices defines grape composition and oenological potential. In the context of climate change, increasing temperatures, drought, altered precipitation patterns, and more frequent extreme meteorological phenomena are placing additional pressure on grape production systems, making the adoption of sustainable and adaptive practices more critical than ever. Approaches that enhance soil health, optimize water use, promote biodiversity, and refine canopy and yield management are essential for maintaining grape quality under evolving conditions.
This Special Issue also welcomes contributions that connect vineyard characteristics with oenological practices and explore final wine attributes such as typicity, chemical composition, microbial stability, aging potential, etc. In this framework, submissions addressing sustainable oenological practices (including waste management) are encouraged.
Original research and review articles are welcome. The areas of research include but are not limited to: grapevine physiology, viticultural practices, plant protection, rootstock evaluation, soil and water management, precision viticulture, grape composition, microbiology, and sustainability-oriented approaches in oenology.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Horticulturae is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
