Crop production physiology is the study of how plants develop, grow, and yield by combining external influences with internal processes, including respiration, photosynthesis, and nutrient uptake. It seeks to increase agricultural sustainability and productivity by learning how to grow crops for maximum yield, stress tolerance, and water use efficiency, while postharvest physiology and biochemistry involve studying metabolic processes, such as respiration, ethylene production, and ripening, that dictate the quality, shelf life, and senescence of harvested crops. Sustainable management uses this knowledge to reduce postharvest losses, enhance nutritional value, and maintain genetic diversity through advanced, eco-friendly storage technologies. Key aspects of postharvest physiology and biochemistry involves respiration rates, moisture loss, and tissue softening, which directly affect shelf life; ethylene biosynthesis, chlorophyll degradation, and antioxidant accumulation, which determine produce quality and senescence; and the study of disorders and stress factors that cause postharvest losses, storage conditions, and the use of molecular tools to understand metabolic shifts during the production of different crops. In order to guarantee long-term food security and climate resilience, the sustainable management of plant genetic resources (PGRs) entails preserving, utilizing, and enhancing plant biodiversity. Through characterization, exchange, and use, it promotes sustainable agriculture while preventing genetic degradation by combining in situ (natural habitat) and ex situ (gene banks) techniques. In this Special Issue (Second Edition), authors around the world are called to bring their advancements and cutting-edge manuscripts dealing with crop physio-biochemical and postharvest processes for the sustainable management of plant genetic resources (PGRs).

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
