Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The rapid development of electrified transportation and robotic applications has placed unprecedented demands on electric motor systems. High-performance motor design and advanced control technologies directly determine efficiency, power density, dynamic response, reliability, and overall system intelligence. In recent years, innovations in new motor topologies, high-energy-density materials, advanced thermal management, and sophisticated control algorithms have opened exciting opportunities to push the performance boundaries further.

This Special Issue will present the latest advances in high-performance motor design and control specifically tailored for electrified transportation and robotic applications. We invite contributions that explore emerging design methodologies, high-efficiency and high-torque-density solutions, advanced control strategies, etc. The integration of motor design with drive systems, thermal management, and mechanical dynamics is also encouraged to address real-world application challenges.

Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • High-performance motor design for electrified vehicles or robotic applications;
  • Advanced control strategies for electrified vehicles or robotic applications;
  • Thermal management and high-efficiency cooling techniques for high-power-density motors;
  • Design and control integration for torque ripple minimization, cogging torque reduction, and acoustic noise mitigation;
  • High-speed motor design and control for electric aircraft and lightweight robotic joints;
  • Fault-tolerant motor design and control for safety-critical applications;
  • Machine learning and AI-based approaches for motor design optimization and real-time control;
  • Compact, integrated motor-drive units for robotic joints and e-axle systems for electric vehicles;
  • Other aspects related to motors for electrified transportation and robotic applications.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
