Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Big data analytics is a pivotal area of decision-making in sectors ranging from medicine to finance, smart cities, and cybersecurity. Nonetheless, the growing amount of data brings many complications concerning scalability, automation, and real-time interpretation of large amounts of diverse information sources. Agentic AI refers to systems that include autonomous intelligent agents, whose ability consists in performing specific actions towards achieving goals through the process of reasoning and planning.
In particular, agentic AI systems may assist with the management of complex data pipelines, the automation of the feature engineering process, workflow optimization, and the generation of insights in an adaptive manner. In turn, there are several challenges, including those related to trust and data quality, that have to be considered while working with agentic AI and big data analytics to guarantee proper operation of the systems.
The aim of this Special Issue is to shed light on the integration of agentic AI and big data analytics by analyzing their theoretical background, design approaches, and applications. We invite researchers and industry practitioners for high-quality original research articles, surveys, and systematic literature reviews that advance the theory, design, and application of agentic AI in big data environments.
Special Issue Topics:
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Agentic AI architectures for big data analytics;
- Autonomous data pipeline orchestration using AI agents;
- Agent-based data integration and preprocessing;
- AI agents for feature engineering and data transformation;
- Multi-agent systems for distributed data analytics;
- Agentic AI for real-time and streaming analytics;
- AI-driven decision-making in big data environments;

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
