Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Robotics and intelligent control are becoming key enabling technologies for next-generation intelligent systems, smart manufacturing, autonomous operation, and complex engineering applications. With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, advanced sensing, embedded computing, communication technologies, and control theory, robots are increasingly expected to operate in unstructured, dynamic, and challenging environments. These include not only industrial, service, mobile, aerial, and medical robots, but also underwater robots and autonomous underwater vehicles, which play an important role in ocean exploration, marine resource development, environmental monitoring, and underwater inspection.

This Special Issue, entitled “Robotics and Intelligent Control”, aims to provide a platform for researchers and engineers to present recent advances, innovative methods, practical systems, and emerging applications in robotics and control. We are particularly interested in studies that address the modeling, perception, planning, navigation, decision-making, optimization, and intelligent control of robotic systems. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Artificial intelligence and machine/deep learning methods for robotic systems;
  2. Advanced control, adaptive control, robust control, and optimal control for robots;
  3. Motion planning, path planning, trajectory tracking, and autonomous navigation;
  4. Perception, sensor fusion, localization, and mapping for robotic applications;
  5. Mobile robots, industrial robots, service robots, aerial robots, and underwater robots;
  6. Autonomous underwater vehicles, remotely operated vehicles, and marine robotic systems;
  7. Cooperative control, multi-robot systems, and swarm robotics;
  8. Intelligent control for nonlinear, uncertain, and complex dynamic systems;
  9. Human–robot interaction and intelligent decision-making;
  10. Applications of robotics and intelligent control in manufacturing, ocean engineering, inspection, monitoring, and other engineering fields.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
