Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The rapid evolution of augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) technologies is creating unique opportunities to enhance human experiences among multiple domains. Immersive technologies are gradually going beyond their technical specifications to influence social and environmental dynamics, cultural expressions, education, and personal well-being. As the interaction between physical and digital realities continues to increase, a more profound understanding of these technologies' technical aspects and social implications becomes a fundamental research point.
This Special Issue aims to explore the nature of AR, VR, and MR as technical systems and their potential as social instruments. We seek contributions that investigate how AR/VR/MR applications enable meaningful human experiences in areas such as cultural heritage, visual arts, education, social interaction, workplace enhancement, experiential learning, and improved well-being across diverse contexts.
We welcome original research articles, reviews, and case studies that address topics including, but not limited to, the following:
- Human–computer interaction frameworks for creating meaningful immersive experiences.
- Integration of emotional recognition systems with immersive technologies.
- Innovative computing solutions enabling responsive AR/VR/MR applications in public spaces and institutions.
- Technical innovations in visual rendering, spatial computing, and multisensory feedback.
- Applications of immersive technologies in cultural contexts, including museums, cinemas, and visual arts.
- Environmental and ecological applications that promote awareness and sustainable behaviors.
- Social presence and community-building in shared virtual environments.
- Immersive technologies for workplace well-being, training, and collaboration.
- AR/VR/MR applications that promote health, psychological well-being, and quality of life.
- Methodological approaches to evaluating the social impacts of immersive technologies.
- Ethical considerations in designing immersive experiences for diverse populations.
- Case studies of immersive technologies promoting positive social change.
I look forward to receiving your contributions to this interdisciplinary exploration of how emerging immersive technologies can enhance human social dimensions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
