Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Mathematics teaching and learning continues to be problem for many learners; they fail to see its relevance to everyday life and, at an early age, find other disciplines more interesting and relevant; this is not helped by some teachers of mathematics in both the Primary and Secondary sector not fully appreciating the power, beauty and relevance of mathematics and mathematics thinking in today’s world. We hope this special edition will provide teachers, teacher trainers and policy makers with renewed enthusiasm for teaching and learning mathematics through its application and to problems in the real world, relevant to their learners.

The aim of this special issue is to highlight and provide evidence for teaching and learning mathematics through its applications, problems solving, meaningful contexts and its relevance to the world we live in. We are keen to receive submissions based on innovation at primary or secondary education or teacher training, both initial and continuing education.

Any submissions that focus on aspects of teaching and learning mathematics through applications and relevant and real world contexts are encouraged, including the use of digital technology in enhancing mathematics education; we are also keen to receive submissions that highlight how problem solving can be used to introduce new concepts with learners working collaboratively.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Education Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
