Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
While all human beings are endowed with potential talents, gifts and faculties, it is often through education that these human gems must be mined, thus benefiting the self and others. Education exerts a lasting effect on students, allowing them to realize their potential and achieve various outcomes. Education, including gifted education, must be progressive in order to prepare students to respond to the exigencies of our time. It is thus important for educators to share and explore new ways of preparing students at different stages of their life, for stagnation is the beginning of retrogression.
This Special Issue aims to feature the various pedagogical and developmental efforts of educators and researchers whose aim is to advance the field of gifted education. It will cover the development of gifts and talents from childhood to adolescence and adulthood, since different methods of gifted education may be required at different stages. It will also explore how the development of gifts and talents is more likely to be successful when approached from various perspectives, including intellectual, emotional, moral, spiritual, physical and digital perspectives.
Some examples of themes that will be considered across different age groups of gifted students are as follows:
- Curriculum differentiation, enrichment and discovery learning for gifted students—pedagogical development.
- Critical and creative thinking, Gestalt thinking, intuitive thinking and validation of truth(s) and realities—intellectual development.
- Character and virtue development—moral and spiritual development.
- Happiness and regulation of emotional intensity—emotional and social development.
- Digital wizards—technological development.
- Any other relevant themes related to advancing the education of gifted and talented students.
