Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Digital technologies are now firmly embedded within teacher development programmes and professional learning. Their use is often framed in terms of innovation and efficiency, yet questions remain about how technology reshapes pedagogical practice and supports professional growth. As new technologies emerge and expectations around inclusion continue to rise, there is a growing need to examine how digital pedagogies are implemented within education.
This Special Issue focuses on the role of technology and innovative pedagogies in learning and teacher development, with particular attention to approaches that promote active engagement and inclusive practice. It invites contributions that examine pedagogical purpose and professional experience, together with the values that underpin the use of digital tools. Papers may explore how technology mediates collaboration and active participation in learning, as well as how digital pedagogies respond to diversity across different contexts. The Special Issue welcomes research grounded in a range of methodological and theoretical traditions, alongside critically reflective accounts of practice. Contributions may address emerging technologies, programme design, institutional approaches, or wider policy and cultural influences shaping teacher education and learner development. By bringing together international perspectives, this Special Issue aims to deepen understanding of how innovative digital pedagogies can respond to contemporary challenges such as widening participation and rapid technological change. It will be of interest to researchers, educators, and policy makers concerned with developing future-focused educational practices.
