Advanced Diagnostic and Therapeutic Digestive Endoscopy

Dear Colleagues,

In the last two decades, gastrointestinal endoscopy has undergone unprecedented development in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the digestive tract. The introduction of advanced imaging technologies and the use of artificial intelligence have enabled the identification and characterization of early-stage lesions. In particular, these technologies have enabled early tumor diagnosis and endoscopic treatment, resulting in less morbidity and discomfort for patients and lower costs for the health care system. New, technologically advanced devices and materials applied to endoscopy enabled endoluminal therapy to treat diseases or functional disorders that, until a few years ago, were managed only by surgery, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease and its complications, achalasia, primary spastic esophageal motility disorders, gastroparesis, obesity, and metabolic disorders. In this Special Issue, some of these topics will be reviewed and updated by expert endoscopists.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Diagnostics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
