Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Neurodegenerative diseases include fatal disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). As average life expectancy increases, these diseases are becoming more frequent, representing a major health and social burden. Despite significant progress in the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions, there are still limitations in the diagnostic tools used to identify neurodegenerative diseases at early stages and to predict their progression. Moreover, there is an urgent need for easy-to-perform and standardized blood biomarkers for many of these diseases, which currently still require more invasive measurements in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). New technologies now enable the development of methods to identify novel biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases and detect them in biological samples. Ongoing studies in this field are expected to achieve promising results.
This Special Issue aims to collect research and review articles focusing on advances in the diagnosis and prediction of neurodegenerative diseases, with particular attention to AD, PD, and ALS.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Diagnostics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
