Feature Papers in Dental Education

Dear Colleagues,

After the great success of the Special Issue “Dental Education”, we are pleased to announce the opening of Volume 2 of this Issue.

Of the four domains in an undergraduate dental curriculum, Professionalism, Safe and Effective Clinical Practice, Patient-Centred Care and Dentistry in Society, the last is probably the most demanding. As societies are changing in modern demographic and health trends, dental education needs constant updates to equip future dentists with competences to promote the general and oral health in their communities and populations. The COVID-19 pandemic poses a global challenge that reflects on dental education. Distance learning, loss of practical courses and extramural education, and lockdown had significant impacts on dental students and educators. With higher rates of vaccination, students are back in faculties, but we are still living in “new normal” conditions and adjusting to the development of the pandemic.

This Special Issue is dedicated to dental education in all its segments. We invite contributors to publish new information on curriculum updates and quality assurance in undergraduate/postgraduate education and dental auxiliary personnel training. We aim to rapidly publish and disseminate the latest information on curriculum development, clinical protocols, teaching and competence assessment methods before and during the coronavirus pandemic, ethical issues, and student surveys. Original research articles, reviews and short communications are welcome for submission.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Dentistry Journal is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
