Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to share your research in this Special Issue focusing on ovarian development and function. The ovary is not only responsible for producing female gametes, but also essential for endocrine regulation. The ovarian function is supported by dynamic physiological processes across the entire lifespan, including oogenesis, folliculogenesis, and luteinization. These processes require well-controlled differentiation, proliferation, and programed death of somatic and germ cells, which are regulated at the epigenetic, genetic, and posttranslational levels.
Molecular reproductive biology is one of the scopes of CIMB, and this Special Issue aims to publish research on molecular mechanisms, including regulatory factors and signaling pathways, that are critical for supporting ovarian function. Findings in this collection will contribute to fundamental knowledge of ovarian biology and physiology and provide insight into improving female reproductive and endocrine health.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Basic or translational studies can be conducted in vitro or in vivo using animal models or human specimens. Research areas may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Germ cell mitosis-to-meiosis transition and meiotic arrest;
- Oocyte activation and meiosis resumption;
- Primordial follicle assembly and activation;
- Follicular development and maturation;
- Dominant follicle selection and ovulation;
- Luteal development and regression;
- Granulosa and theca cell differentiation;
- Estrogen and progesterone production.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Current Issues in Molecular Biology is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
