Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) remains one of the most devastating gastrointestinal emergencies in neonates, with nutrition playing a central role in its development and management. While maternal milk is known to offer protective benefits, the optimal enteral nutrition strategy—particularly regarding formula types and fortification—for infants at risk of NEC is still debated. Additionally, guidance is limited on how best to reintroduce enteral feeds following medical or surgical NEC. This Special Issue aims to explore current evidence and innovative approaches to nutrition management in NEC, inviting the submission of original research and comprehensive reviews to inform clinical strategies and improve neonatal outcomes.
