Pediatric Pain Medicine and Palliative Care

A section of Children (ISSN 2227-9067).

Section Information

Pain Therapy is dedicated to pain clinicians, educators, and researchers with an interest in pain from various medical and psychological specialties and related health-care areas. The Pain Section focuses on acute pain in children like vaccination pain, acute pain in other healthcare settings, and in the trajectory of severe illnesses. Another major field to cover is chronic pain in children, e.g., headache, abdominal pain, and/or musculoskeletal pain, that arises primarily or secondarily during episodes of organ destruction or malfunction. Pediatric Palliative Care focuses on children, adolescents, and young adults with life‐threatening or life‐limiting conditions and their families in the whole disease trajectory from diagnosis to death. Communication with patients and parents, shared decision making, advanced care planning, and multimodal and interprofessional treatment are major topics of interest. The four dimensions of palliative care—the biological, psychological, social and spiritual dimension—will be covered.

The Pediatric Pain Medicine and Palliative Care Section accepts all articles and reviews related to Pediatric Pain and Palliative Care.
