Dear Colleagues,
The microbiome varies widely in various aspects of the gastrointestinal tract. Over time, it has been observed that shifts in the microbiome can cause or prevent disease in that part of the gastrointestinal tract. This issue will focus on different studies and investigations that have been performed by various investigators. We will showcase the multiple types of experiments and analyses that are currently being conducted to evaluate the relationship between the microbial community and disease in the gastrointestinal tract.

Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Cells is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
