Molecular Mechanisms and Therapeutic Strategies for Skeletal Muscle Disorders

Dear Colleagues,

Skeletal muscle is essential not only for movement and metabolism but also as a regulator of systemic health. Its dysfunction—from genetic myopathies to sarcopenia and cachexia—severely impacts the quality of life, underscoring the need to elucidate its underlying molecular mechanisms.

This Special Issue invites articles and reviews that explore core mechanisms in skeletal muscle pathophysiology. Topics include stress response signaling, myokine–cytokine interactions, and cellular processes in muscle adaptation, repair, and wasting. Studies uncovering novel mechanistic insights into regeneration and therapy development are especially welcome. By integrating cutting-edge research, this Special Issue aims to bridge basic biology and targeted therapeutic innovation.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Cells is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
