Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue invites original research articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and clinical perspectives on the evolving landscape of minimally invasive and percutaneous ablative approaches to benign and malignant thyroid disease. Over the past decade, transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy (TOETVA), minimally invasive video-assisted thyroidectomy (MIVAT), percutaneous thermal ablation (radiofrequency and microwave), and active surveillance strategies have emerged as viable alternatives to conventional open thyroidectomy for carefully selected patients. We welcome contributions addressing the following topics: temporal trends and adoption patterns of these modalities; comparative safety, efficacy, and oncologic outcomes; cost-effectiveness analyses; complications and management strategies; the role of diagnostic innovations (molecular profiling, advanced imaging) in treatment selection; health economics; multidisciplinary team approaches; training and technical standardization; and institutional experiences of how practice patterns have evolved in response to emerging evidence. This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive, contemporary assessment of the role and future of minimally invasive and ablative paradigms in endocrine thyroid surgery.
