Dear Colleagues,
Hematologic malignancies, including lymphomas, leukemias, and multiple myeloma, represent a diverse group of cancers that require accurate diagnosis, staging, and treatment monitoring to optimize patient outcomes. Over the past two decades, positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) has emerged as a cornerstone of modern hematologic imaging by combining functional and anatomical information in a single examination. Recent advances in PET/CT technology, including improved detector systems, artificial intelligence-assisted image analysis, novel radiotracers, and standardized response assessment criteria, have significantly enhanced diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic decision-making. PET/CT now plays a pivotal role in initial staging, assessment of treatment response, detection of minimal residual disease, and identification of disease relapse. Furthermore, the integration of PET/CT into precision medicine approaches has facilitated personalized treatment strategies, including response-adapted therapies and image-guided interventions. This topic highlights recent developments in PET/CT-guided diagnosis and treatment, emphasizing their impact on the management and prognosis of patients with hematologic malignancies.
