Dear Colleagues,
Recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma (rHCC) represents one of the greatest challenges in liver cancer management, largely due to its biological heterogeneity and complex evolutionary dynamics. Increasing evidence suggests that rHCC may develop due to distinct molecular mechanisms, including aggressive residual clones, de novo tumorigenesis driven by chronic liver injury, and treatment-induced selective pressures. Advances in genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, and proteomics are rapidly reshaping our understanding of rHCC biology by revealing key driver alterations, evolutionary trajectories, and microenvironmental interactions.
This Special Issue will provide a specialized platform for cutting-edge studies investigating the mechanistic foundations and clonal evolution of rHCC. We welcome contributions that explore genetic and epigenetic alterations, immune microenvironment changes, multi-omics integration, tumor evolution models, biomarkers for recurrence origin, and mechanism-based predictive or therapeutic strategies. Both original research articles and comprehensive reviews are welcome.
By concentrating on the molecular and evolutionary landscape of rHCC, this Special Issue will advance our mechanistic understanding and foster the development of novel tools for early detection, risk stratification, and personalized treatment.
